Deposit Collection
It is obligatory for a publisher or author to supply one copy of every work published in Guyana to the National Library. This collection comprises all of the publications received by the library as legal deposit copies. |

Collection
The Juvenile Department of the library has a small collection of educational toys which can be accessed for use in the library. |

A collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, handbooks etc. which is consulted mainly to satisfy simple, factual enquiries. |

The library has a extensive collection materials written by Caribbean authors and about the Caribbean, for both reference and lending purposes. |

A set of books on horticulture donated to the National Library by the late Adrian Thompson. |

Guyanese author and poet donated a collection of Caribbean works, including his own publications. Many of the Caribbean publications have been autographed by their authors. |
Newspaper
Clippings Collection
The Newspaper Clippings or Vertical File Collection comprises primarily newspaper clippings, mounted and filed according to subject and has three sequences – Guyana, West Indies and General. Frequently it is the only source of information for many local happenings, containing as it does, the most up-to-date information on subjects. |

Society Collection
The Guyana Society Collection contains many rare and important historical works on Guyana and the West Indies. It comprises that portion of the Guyana Society Collection (formerly the Royal Agricultural and Commercial Society) given to the Library when the Society,s library was closed. |
